Early this winter one of my neighbors hung a whole bunch of fake cardinals in a front-yard tree. Yesterday it snowed, and I actually burst out laughing on the street this morning.

Thanks, Marge. It was the phone; the camera would have done better but I was on my way to play basketball so I didn’t have it, and I didn’t want to risk all those snow hats melting by the time I got back.
Fabulous! I have a soft spot for cardinals and, for some reason, also think of them as fairly dim. By which I mean: the cardinals who I live in my head would COMPLETELY allow snow to accumulate on their heads.
