Nineteenth Saturday

Fog’s erased far shore.

Piling field eases off to

Pale soft emptiness.

Cormorant swoops in,

Circles pilings, chooses one,

Perches at his post.

Chattering hatchlings

Hop behind mom, new wings wide,

Tiny beaks open.
