Thirty-fourth Saturday, from Rancho Obsesso

High-pitched cheeps in oak,

Raucous cawing from maple,

Cicadas fading.

Squirrel on branch tip

Gnaws acorn, bounces away,

Looks for one that fell.

Roses of Sharon

Lavender, white; and wild mint.

Other blooms gone by.
