Thirty-sixth Saturday, from Governor’s Island

Cormorants sit, stand,

Sleep, stare, sprawl in colony

On sea-swept concrete.

Geese gather on lawn,

Nibble grass, find lots of food —

Forget flying south.

Goat, nuzzling apples,

Pushes chicken off compost.

Chicken struts away.
