Forty-third Saturday

Gull wheels through gray sky,

Slides along above pilings,

Seeks protected perch.

Traffic’s whooshing hiss,

Rain splattering umbrella,

Bass music’s loud thump.

Tents shelter stalwarts:

Charity party on pier.

Runner splashes past.
