Fifteenth Saturday, six days late

Small swells lift water.
No ships disturb smooth surface.
High tide hides pilings.

Gray sky, gray river.
Flat light coaxes colors out.
Red brick, yellow stone.

Cormorant flies off
Leaving fishing ground behind,
Belly full, wings dry.

cormorant, early morning

Ooh, I love this one – not that I don’t love all of your Saturday observations – always with the poignant twist at the end.
