Forty-eighth Saturday

Glassy high water.
Cormorants flap drying wings.
Pilings stand like reeds.

Neighbor stops to chat.
Tourists photograph the sky.
Runner slaps on past.

Small tug, little barge,
Inching by at turtle speed,
Barely leaving wake.
